KITCHENS
Designing a kitchen space can be the trickiest
Designing a kitchen space can be the trickiest if one does not follow the basic guidelines and requirements of properly utilizing a kitchen space and maximizing the functionality and efficiency of the kitchen. The most basic of these requirements is known as the Kitchen Work Triangle which is defined by the National Kitchen & Bath Association.
This rule requires that there exists an ‘’imaginary’’ triangle between the three main worksites which are: the refrigerator worksite, the sink worksite and the stove worksite. These worksites represent the cold storage worksite, the cleaning/preparation worksite, and the cooking worksite respectively.
The idea behind the Kitchen Work Triangle is to create an efficient kitchen, where the distances between these worksites are not too far neither too close. Too far apart entails wasting a lot of footsteps while preparing a meal. Too close on the other hand, entails a cramped kitchen without any place to work. The Kitchen Work Triangle is well-researched and it is one of the most ergonomic principles applied. At Lightex, every kitchen we design is unique to the client’s taste, following certain design elements which will make the kitchen indeed personal to the client while being fully functional and efficient. It is a center of a household; therefore it is designed with much thought.
